Collagen Solutions looks to move manufacturing from New Zealand to Scotland

In a bid to save £200,000 a year, Scottish life sciences firm Collagen Solutions is planning to move some of its manufacturing from New Zealand to Glasgow.

The Glasgow-based firm, which specialises in medical grade collagen and tissue components, said it is looking at a restructuring of its business in New Zealand to focus on tissue collection and processing.

Chief executive Jamal Rushdy, said:  There are two sides to making this change, firstly there is the human side, and the potential loss of valued and dedicated employees in New Zealand who through no fault of their own may no longer have a job with Collagen Solutions.

“The other side is our responsibility to our stakeholders as a whole, and this change will help our key objectives of building a sustainable, profitable and cash-generative company in the near to medium term.”
