We have one of the largest Life Sciences clusters in Europe, employing over 40,000 people across some 770 organisations. Life Science companies Scotland contribute in excess of £5.2bn turnover and about £2.4bn gross value added to the Scottish economy.

The Scottish life sciences sector has grown at 7% per annum since 2010, putting it on track to reach the strategy target of £8bn by 2025.

Scotland is home to a range of multinationals and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with a strong track record of creating and growing start-ups.

A thriving entrepreneurial culture in our universities creates more spin-outs than any other region of the UK. Scotland has comprehensive supply chains and world class manufacturing expertise supplying chemical and healthcare equipment, pharmaceutical services, medicines, vaccines and diagnostics to the world.
