Moredun Scientific
Moredun Scientific is a GLP/GMP accredited contract research organization. It provides research and testing services to the animal health, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, supporting the development, registration and manufacture of veterinary and human medicines.
The company is the commercial arm of the Moredun Foundation. The close association with the research groups at the Moredun Research Institute provides valuable input into client studies.
State-of-the-art facilities and extensive experience of contract research and testing to GLP, GMP and VICH-GCP quality standards have enabled the growth of a contract research organization with a unique ability to add value to customers.
The company is continuing to develop its facilities and portfolio of services. Recent updates include:
The launch of new livestock disease models to support clients developing veterinary vaccines and therapeutics. An example of this is a validated model of Streptococcus suis infection, a bacterial pathogen of pigs of major importance to the global pig industry.
Upgraded Mycoplasma testing facilities enabling GMP compliant testing of biopharmaceutical products including therapeutic antibodies, recombinant proteins, vaccines and cell therapy products.
Moredun Scientific is located near Edinburgh in close proximity to the Easter Bush Research Consortium, a world leading alliance of animal bioscience researchers. This provides collaborative opportunities and enables the company to enhance its service offering to animal health clients.
oredun Scientific have directly benefited from the skilled workforce in Scotland. The country has a long tradition of developing and assessing new therapies and vaccines and is home to many established contract research and testing organizations. Links and partnerships are also common between companies in the sector, for example, a successful collaboration with Vitrology, a biopharmaceutical contract testing organization based in the west of Scotland, extends the portfolio of biosafety testing services offered to the biopharmaceutical industry.
